One of our Australian based clients are eagerly seeking First Class Machinist (Manual/Conventional) to start work immediately.

Primary role

• Experience in Manual Machining using lathes, mills, horizontal borers, slotters and other metal machining equipment.
• 5-7 yrs plus in Manual Machining using range of equipment.
• Trade certificate or equivalent in a Machining background.
• Fitting of machined parts to their corresponding components at fine tolerances.
• Experience in the use of MiG and arc welding and the use of oxy / acetylene.
• Forklift license desirable but not essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain manual machine tools to create and repair precision parts.
• Interpret technical drawings to machine to required dimensions and tight tolerances.
• Set up correct tooling and machines to operate at required speeds and feeds.
• Display accurate measurements to tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment.
• Identifying the need to adjust machine parameters according to the workpiece.
• Routine maintenance of all metal working equipment.
• Ability to work within a team environment and discuss how to achieve the required outcome.
• Ability to work independently and/or with others to maintain a safe working environment.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Attitude Required

• Perform machining and fitting using various machine tools.
• Ability to interpret drawings and machine to tight tolerances to achieve the required fit of the workpiece.
• Proficient in the use of metal working machines and precision measuring equipment.
• Be able to perform all duties meticulously and methodically, have good communication skills and implement all safe working procedures.

Qualification & Other Requirements

• Plan daily tasks to be achieved proficiently
• Liaise with all company employees to achieve tasks on time.
• Sign off on quality standards of external supplier’s work.
• Assist workshop personnel with any improvements that might be implemented and
• technical issues that may be required.
• Ensure workshop consumables and maintenance schedules are kept at agreed
• levels and low stocks are reported to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure tasks are completed within specified timeframes and on budget.
• Keep relevant personnel informed on training and tooling requirements.
• Ensure any relevant paperwork is signed, documented and returned to the
• appropriate personnel.
• Ensure time sheets are filled out correctly and signed.
• Ensure annual leave and sick leave forms are filled out correctly.
• Ensure machines and work areas are always clean after use.
• Ensure tooling is cared for and any broken tooling reported.
• Implement continuous improvement.
